I have been an unix user for some years now. It all started by curiosity: a friend told me he'd bought a "linux". At the time, that sounded exciting but didn't tell me much. I had no idea of what linux was apart from being an operating system... even that I'm not sure I knew...
He helped me install it (actually, he did all the work) in an intel pentium 233MMX with 32Mb of ram.
That was back in 1998. Today it is 2008 and I use linux for almost everything. As for other unixes, I've used FreeBSD for some time, I have used and administrated Sun Solaris 7 and 9 professionally for 2 years and I've spent some minutes playing with Digital UNIX Tru64 on an alpha workstation.
